Fall 8hrs

Hardwood Hills.

The last MTB race of 2016 was a beauty!  Great racing temps, sunny skies, and good company made the day aweome.  Not to mention a fun course.  We also welcomed a new Black Fly to the squad, Arjen who fit in perfectly with the team.  Looking forward to more races next year! We had two 5-6 Person teams and both gave it their all and finished 4th and 7th outta 13 teams.  However, the race highlight of the day and perhaps of Black Fly Racing's 12 year history was Adam, competing in the Solo 40-49 category.  Adam finished in 9th place out of 31 competitors in 13 laps.  That's 130km's in under 8hrs.  Amazing.

Fall 8hrs 2014

Not a cloud in the sky!  Beauty day for the Black Fly's on another great course up at Hardwood Hills.  The race started out with a false flat of double track before dipping into a bit of singletrack.  That was followed by a couple of k's of twisty turns on a packed down type field.  Back into the singletrack with the only climb before the final 2km hammerfest back to the finish line.  Out of 17 teams, we were in 4th and 5th for most of the day.  With 3 laps to go and over 5 minutes off the podium we eventually worked our way to only 31 seconds from 3rd place.  One more lap would've probably done it!

Fall 8hrs at Hardwood

Yesterday in what was probably the last race of the 2012 season, 5 Blackfly's + our team photopgrapher, William, went up to Hardwood to continue the tradition of the Fall 8hr race that was started last year.  Overcast sky's were in order but luckily it only rained for about 5 minutes but it made the roots and the rocks rather slippery.  It was a thinking-man's course, for sure.

Since it was a little cool and breezy, most of us used our cars for naps and incubators which is why we came up with a new category besides the fastest lap:  Who can stay awake the longest.  Nobody won.

Wrenching with a smile :)

Should we send this pic to the 3rd place team as proof to how they beat us?

Fall Epic 8 Hour @ Hardwood Ski and Bike

Black Fly Racing on podium

Chris finishing the last lap for Black Fly Racing 2

It could have been a double podium for Black Fly Racing 1 and 2.
Black Fly 2 had a mechanical which added 12min to their lap, but they worked hard to closed the gap to 4min at the end, earning 4th. Never the less, weather was beautiful even though the forecast was cloudy with a chance of shower.
